Website Hosting Hiccups… ‘Hic!’

While the progression of our business has been heading in the vertical direction, we had a little hiccup over the past couple of weeks, when we decided to rebuild our website. We were hosting our last website through MYOB Atlas* (who awesomely offer a FREE website with optional e-commerce functionality for one year, plus a FREE com.au web address for two years) and, they were great, but just not really what we needed in terms of site accessibility and options, so, we decided to look for another website hosting company.

confusionWe proceeded with caution through the minefield of hundreds of website hosting companies… ‘Do we just go with one of the big names, like Crazy Domains, or Go Daddy?’ we asked ourselves. The discussion was involved, and lead to a couple of major points; we needed a specific type of website – one that allowed quite a few customisable options, not included in some hosting packages. The major concern that, in our eyes was not negotiable, was customer service; will they respond to emails? Will they be helpful when problems arise? Do they have good old fashion service?

After many hours on the Whirlpool forums (one of the best Aussie forums for info on telecommunications), we decided to take the word of other happy customers and go with Net Virtue* for our web hosting. Well, we are certainly glad we chose them, because they are terrific! I am not exaggerating here; they have the BEST customer service (via email – haven’t had the need to call them yet) that I have ever experienced – ever! For example, I submitted a low-priority ticket (yes, you get to choose the priority level, depending on your need) and they responded within 3 minutes. Not only that, but they have 24 hour email support, and that is just as quick. We had plenty of questions when attempting to build our new site, and, even at 3am, they responded very quickly, with helpful, relevant replies. I very highly recommend these guys for business hosting, and I am not the only person singing their praises.

Oh, and just so you know,  in no way have we been paid or compensated for writing this website hosting review, we just appreciate great service!

Welcome To Our New Website!

Hello customers and visitors – welcome to our new website!

celebrateIt has taken a couple of weeks to get this right, as we built it ourselves and wanted perfection, but we think it has turned out pretty nice, don’t you think? Thanks to Word Press and Net Virtue for making the process easy, and also, a huge thanks to the 40-or-so customers who were patient and understanding when they tried to log on to the website on Saturday and Sunday morning when it was down – your kind emails were appreciated.

Anyway, you will notice a few new features when you have a look around. We are particularly excited about the online meeting booking service, and very pleased with our cute little flip-book style header banner; however, we do still have a bit of work to do, and some of the upcoming features will be:

  • A few extra pages containing our portfolio sampler, pricing guideline and customer testimonials.
  • An online PayPal payment system
  • An online job booking system, to streamline project bookings
  • An online quoting tool
  • A customer satisfaction survey for improvement suggestions.

I am sure that there will be a few more things that we will decide to add in the future, but these are the important ones. We will update this blog – as well as post on our social media accounts – when we update anything, but you are also welcome to contact us to be notified via email.

Anyway, we hope you enjoy the new, streamlined website; this has been the first of many Writers Ink blogs. We would love your feedback, so feel free to comment and share your opinions, don’t be shy, give it a try!
